NEW YORK (CBS) Joseph Andrew Stack, the man the FBI believes crashed a small plane into an Austin office complex out of anger at the IRS, may have left a disturbing online manifesto in which he ranted against the IRS, the Catholic Church, tax loopholes, bailouts and his own sorry state of affairs.

“Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well,” someone named Joe Stack wrote. The Web page signed today as his death date. It was created Feb. 16 and last modified this morning at 6:42 a.m. according the page’s source code. The FBI said they believe it is real.

The FBI believes Stack burned down his own house Thursday and crash landed a plane into the Echelon building in Austin where the IRS maintains several offices. CNN reported that as many as 190 IRS employees work in the building.

At least one person was missing and two people were taken to a hospital, according to Assistant Austin Fire Chief Harry Evans. Their conditions and identities were not immediately known.

Joe Stack’s web page starts out “If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, ‘Why did this have to happen?’”

He talked about the “storm raging in my head” and railed against taxation without representation. “Anyone who really stands up for that principal is promptly labeled a ‘crackpot’, traitor and worse,” the page says.

Stack was angered by a “handful of thugs and plunderers (that) can commit unthinkable atrocities” including bailed out GM executives and the drug and insurance companies who “are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple.”

He was pissed at politicians of all stripes and outraged at the IRS, which he believed unfairly gave tax loopholes to big corporations and the Catholic Church, but not regular Americans.

He said he tried to exploit the same loopholes but it backfired. That “little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0,” he wrote.

He hoped that the “the American zombies wake up and revolt,” and at times expressed that he was at a breaking point.

“I know I’m hardly the first one to decide I have had all I can stand,” he wrote. “It has always been a myth that people have stopped dying for their freedom in this country, and it isn’t limited to the blacks, and poor immigrants. I know there have been countless before me and there are sure to be as many after. But I also know that by not adding my body to the count, I insure nothing will change. I choose to not keep looking over my shoulder at “big brother” while he strips my carcass, I choose not to ignore what is going on all around me, I choose not to pretend that business as usual won’t continue; I have just had enough. ”

He ended with,” The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.”

Posted by Lauren Elizondo – V-News Network

The dog days of winter are upon us. Below-zero wind chills, sand-crusted snowbanks and that lowly feeling you get when you remember that it is going to be like this at least until April; ultimately too long.

All right, so maybe it’s only like this for people who live in cold-weather climates, but once the big holidays have passed you by, there really isn’t much else to look forward to until the warm days of summer. UNLESS – you’re going on a vacation!

If you haven’t planned one yet, it’s time. Unsure where to go? Let us help you figure out your winter escape. Look below and choose which best describes what you’re looking for and then get going!

If you like to party…

…try Cancun. Grab your swimsuit and sunglasses and make a beeline to Mexico’s glorious Yucatan Peninsula. Known as a popular spring break destination, you’ll find 20-somethings crowds scattering the white-sand beaches and filling the world-renowned nightclubs like Coco Bongo and The City. When you aren’t lounging at the Nichupte Lagoon with a margarita in hand, check out Cancun’s Mayan archaeological sites like Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba.

…or Miami. Don’t feel like dealing with a passport? Head to the super posh port city in Southeastern Florida. With a climate almost identical to the Caribbean tropics, you’ll be a bronzed sunbather in no time on the famous South Beach. Also a popular spring break destination, Miami is the place to go if you need to dance. Cuban, Dominican and West Indies beats flow from Little Havana and nightclubs like Mansion.

If you like warm sand and island mystique…

…check out Hawaii. Besides the postcard perfect beaches, vibrant flora and luxury hotels speckling The Big Island and its smaller counterparts, the fact that these islands were created by and still comprised of active volcanoes truly makes this an exotic winter escape. Discover the two national parks, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Haleakala National Park, and the international Hula competition, Merrie Monarch Festival.

Personal Trainer: Do You Need One?

"Whether you’re an elliptical pro or a cardio beginner, everyone needs motivation to exercise."

Posted by Lauren Elizondo – V-News Network

You may think a personal trainer is only for someone who is an exercising fanatic or simply has too much money to burn. It’s time to put these fallacies aside. There are a plethora or reasons why a personal trainer might be right for you. Figure it out on your own with the help of these workout considerations!

Exercise Newbie

Is the exercise scene new for you? Health clubs, exercise equipment and fellow gym-goers can be intimidating. A personal trainer can help you navigate a gym, explain how to use each piece of equipment and machine and offer support when you’re feeling a little self-conscious around sweat-banded body builders who look like they know EXACTLY what they are doing.

Inspiration

Whether you’re an elliptical pro or a cardio beginner, everyone needs motivation to exercise. With the help of a personal trainer, you can develop a consistent exercise plan and a lifestyle that supports it.

Lose Pounds

This is an obvious one. Along with inspiration, a personal trainer can work with you to figure out exactly what types of exercises you need to do to get specific results. As you begin to lose weight, you and your personal trainer can reevaluate what is working for you and what isn’t until you’ve got a customized weight loss plan that works.

Break through Plateaus

You may have an exercise routine that works for you but you want to amp it up a little. If you’re used to doing the same types of workouts over and over, it’s sometimes tough to find new ways that work for you. A personal trainer will help you switch up your regular routines and jump-start a new plan to get you where you physically want to be.

Learn for the Future

If you plan to keep an exercise routine going long term, it’s wise to learn the basics and get a good workout foundation from the beginning. A personal trainer will not just help you learn the ropes at the gym, but they’ll teach you how to develop a healthier lifestyle and what it’ll take to maintain it.

***If you’re interested in a personal trainer, check out the resources at local gyms. Chains like Lifetime Fitness, Snap Fitness and L.A. Fitness offer personal trainers for an added fee to you gym membership while specialized gyms like Fitness Together feature strictly one-on-one time with a trainer.

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 17 — Big Brothers Big Sisters has partnered with popular nationally syndicated urban radio personality Michael Baisden for his One Million Mentors Campaign and Save Our Kids tour. The seven-month, 72-city national bus tour begins in Dallas this week where Baisden’s show is headquartered.

The Michael Baisden Show is the top-ranked urban afternoon program in the country. Every weekday, Baisden ignites lively, passionate discussions while combining the best in music, comedy and social commentary to inspire real change across America. In 2007, he spearheaded the widely reported Jena 6 civil rights demonstration where tens of thousands of Americans peacefully marched in Louisiana to protest the justice system’s mistreatment of six young African American men.

“We applaud Michael Baisden’s fearless focus on encouraging community activism and believe his outspoken advocacy and support of mentoring will make a real difference in the communities we serve,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters of America President & CEO Karen Mathis. “We have independent evidence and know first-hand how long-term volunteer mentoring makes communities stronger and safer, empowering children and families to beat the odds. We will join the Baisden Foundation’s One Million Mentors tour, providing information about how Big Brothers Big Sisters’ time-tested careful mentor matching and ongoing support benefit children, their families and volunteers.”

During the tour, the Michael Baisden Foundation will team with local radio affiliates, Big Brothers Big Sisters, 100 Black Men of America, National Cares Mentoring Movement, the United Way, local faith-based organizations and other community mentoring organizations to educate communities about mentoring and raise funds to support local organizations.

The One Million Mentors tour comes on the heels of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ national summit with African American fraternity leaders from Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi, who have teamed with the nation’s largest donor-supported network of volunteer mentors in an unprecedented collaboration. Representatives from the fraternities will also join local Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies at the One Million Mentors tour rallies. With African American boys disproportionately representing the children waiting to be matched with “Bigs,” the fraternities have committed to help recruit Big Brothers and raise funds so that agencies can meet the demand with sufficient match support.

To learn if the One Million Mentors to Help Save Our Kids through Mentoring tour will stop in your town, please go to http://www.onemillionmentors.com/.

About the Michael Baisden Foundation

The Michael Baisden Foundation is partnering with national and local organizations to support the efforts of Mentor organizations and organizations that support children. Over the past four years the foundation has donated nearly a half million dollars to other 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. to help support Youth Organizations. In February 2010, The Baisden Live National Tour to “Save Our Kids” will launch. In every city, Michael will donate $5,000 per affiliate market and challenge his listeners to beat it. He’s making a difference, a donation and an impact in every city and along the way!

About Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps vulnerable children beat the odds. The organization depends on donations to help conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety; and provide ongoing support for children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships, key to successful mentoring. Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven by independent research to improve children’s odds for succeeding in school, behaving nonviolently, avoiding drugs and alcohol, and breaking negative cycles.
"Chino trousers are worn loose and low with turned up hems, paired with paneled jersey or a cream belted blazer."

Originally posted on French Connection re- posted by Deanna Mazone,Senior Staff Writer V-News Network

As ever with French Connection expect the unexpected, earth tones sit alongside bold tribal colours, clean vintage prints lay happily with over-sized modern graphics with texture adding clever detail. It’s a well thought out love affair between tradition and modernist design.

Spring has a rustic start with relaxed silhouettes given natural embellishment in muted safari tones. Chino trousers are worn loose and low with turned up hems, paired with paneled jersey or a cream belted blazer. This season longer length skirts make a return; southern belles wear theirs just below the knee with an embroidered smock. Sleeveless shift and shirt dresses are given a swing with an a-line cut in neutral khaki tones or playful paisley print, embellishment is delicate in peacock green and blue.

Gingham check features across the season giving a western nod, scooped cowl neck, sleeveless tops and cropped tie waist shirts sit well with high waist, 70’s kick flare denim. Lightweight gingham cotton parkas have utility detailing with pockets and drawstring waists. Outerwear in neutrals are updated with exaggerated collars and cuffs. Knitwear follows a relaxed form with over-sized boyfriend cardigans, off the shoulder dresses and batwing tops.

Dresses flow from fitted to ladylike – key styles include the fitted scallop edge, ribbon stripe dress and 50’s sweet-heart neck dress with matching cropped bolero, giving a definite nod to classic glamour. Marilyn Monroe, esq prom dresses with full skirts add a more flirty appeal, with cut out back and boned corset detail, in a beautiful vintage china print.

As the weather heats up so does the collection. Modern graphics sit alongside colourful tribal stripes and beaded, flowing silk tunics. Traditional dog tooth prints in pastel colours are blown up and adorn jersey skirts and swing dresses. Jeans are given an acid wash and worn casually with a grey sweatshirt parka or military coat. 50’s influenced work wear has a colonial update with deep green, high neck, calf length belted dresses.

Colour injections in lime green, orange and pink stripes feature across off the shoulder dresses, smock tops and loose knitted vest dresses. Eclectic chiffon handkerchief dresses are printed with outlines of a city scene, adding humour to a formal style.

The accessories range compliments the collection perfectly with luxurious statement pieces. The colonial theme carries through with wide woven belts that define the waist, or thin and leather with knot detailing. Metal work gives an edge to a cream large canvas bag. Leather bags feature all over tassels in chocolate brown or classic in tan with a mustard trim. Monochrome is key and makes a return in woven raffia across shoulder bags and clutches.

Over-sized clutches make a statement – choose from the muted khaki weave with large wooden fastening or orange and black patent.

Swimwear brings glamour to the beach with matching prints featuring across triangle and bandeau bikini’s, swimsuits and cover-ups. Choose from kaftans, strapless dresses or Grecian jersey styles. Bikini’s are updated with frill edges in polka dot and stripes or wet look black with a twist detail bandeau top. One pieces are given edge with plunging necklines and low scoop backs.
